The National Cyber Security Authority, AKSK, has issued a public warning about the increase in cases of phishing attacks on the WhatsApp application, where citizens are facing fraudulent messages and links aimed at taking control of their accounts.
According to AKSK, attackers send messages that appear official and request verification codes, or direct users to fake authorization pages, jeopardizing the security of personal data.
Authorities urge users to exercise increased caution and follow these safety measures:
Do not click on suspicious links
Do not share any verification codes, even when the message appears official.
Check linked devices on WhatsApp (Settings → Linked Devices)
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)
AKSK emphasizes that vigilance and reporting of suspicious cases are essential for preventing these cyberattacks. For more information and official recommendations on similar phishing campaigns, citizens are invited to consult the information material published by the relevant authorities./ekofin.al/
