Endri Shabani will again come to the aid of Adriatik Lapaj, but now in the role of the People's Advocate, to closely monitor the protest that will take place this afternoon by the "Albania Becomes" party in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
The announcement states that the Ombudsman has taken measures to guarantee respect for legal standards and the rights of citizens participating in the protest.
According to the institution, this commitment aims to closely monitor any subsequent actions in the premises of police stations and health institutions.
"The Ombudsman informs the public that, in the framework of exercising his constitutional mandate for the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms, he has taken measures to monitor the protest organized today by the 'Albania Becomes' party. A team of Ombudsman observers has been engaged in the field, while the relevant structures have been put on standby to be present, as needed, in the premises of police stations and health institutions. This engagement aims to closely monitor any subsequent action and guarantee respect for legal standards and citizens' rights. The Ombudsman will continue to monitor the situation and will exercise his legal powers in accordance with developments on the ground," the announcement states.
This is the next "collaboration" between Lapaj and Shabani, who ran together in the May 11 elections, but split after a clash over the only mandate they won and to decide who would occupy the seat in Parliament. However, in politics, nothing is impossible, as circumstances force you to cooperate even with the rival you have accused in many ways.
