Foreign Minister Spiropali's first task? To deepen cooperation with the state of Israel. Today, Elisa Spiropali reacted to the congratulations of Israeli Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who wished her success in her new position.
In a post on the X platform, Sa'ar wrote: "I wish much success to Albania's new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali. We value the long-standing friendship between our nations and especially appreciate our cooperation."
Spiropali responded by appreciating his message and emphasizing the importance of relations between Albania and Israel: “Albania deeply values the historical friendship and stable ties with Israel and we are ready to deepen cooperation, including in the vital field of security, working together for common prosperity and stability.”

The Albanian government has not made any public statement or stance on the situation in Gaza to date. Albanian politics in general and from all sides has passed over the genocide being carried out in Gaza in silence. A few days ago, Albania abstained during a vote at the UN on the resolution calling for the creation of two states of Israel and Palestine. A month ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama himself declared that Albania would vote in favor of the creation of two states. With its vote at the UN and with today's servile post by Elise to the Israeli foreign minister, Albania remains one of the isolated countries in Western Europe that does not have a critical stance on the genocide in Gaza.
