The Special Court has reviewed the request of the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, for the revocation of the security measure "prison arrest".
The GJKKO has decided to maintain this measure in force, refusing to release Meta from the cell.
On August 29, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK) completed its investigations and sent Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi to trial, on charges of passive corruption, money laundering, and failure to declare assets.
SPAK claims that corruption schemes and abuses of power were uncovered during the investigation. In addition to Meta and Kryemadhi, three other people have been sent for trial. The first preliminary hearing will be held on September 25 and the file will be handled by judge Irena Gjoka, who will decide whether the case will proceed to trial, be returned to SPAK or the investigations will be discontinued.
