In a harrowing and previously unheard story, Lindita Rroshkodoli, the mother of Elis Rroshkodoli, killed on August 30, 2024 in a mafia assassination in Shkodra, has shared for the first time the story of her family, immersed for decades in a tragic cycle of loss, pain and revenge.
Her exclusive testimony was broadcast on the show "Në Shënjestër" by author Klodiana Lala, where for the first time she told her version of the beginnings of the blood feud that, as she says, "turned into the curse of my life and that of my children."
It all started in 1993…
Lindita lost her husband in an assassination attempt while he was drinking coffee in a bar in Shkodra. The only witness to the event, a friend of her husband named Hys, was called to testify, but refused, according to her, out of fear. When her two brothers-in-law went to convince her, the situation deteriorated: one of them wounded Hys, who remained disabled.
This injury, which was not properly handled by justice at the time, would mark the beginning of an open blood feud that would cost her family three men killed or missing.
Children in Target: Asylum, Tragic Accident, and Cursed Return
No longer feeling safe in her city, Lindita says she decided to send her sons to an asylum. The first to leave was Elis Rroshkodoli, the eldest son. But her efforts to save the children's lives were cruelly thwarted by fate.
Taulanti, the youngest son, died in a car accident in Labinot, Elbasan, while preparing to leave for Belgium to escape the same danger.
"Four people died. Among them was my son, Taulant. He was only 23 years old," Lindita recounts, her voice trembling with pain.
Elisi, prison in Belgium and the return of death to Albania
After his brother's death, Elisi returned from Belgium to stay with his mother. Later, he tried to leave again, but was involved in a conflict in Belgium where he injured a boy from Shkodra over a matter of "honor" and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
After his release, Elisi, expelled from Belgium, attempts to change his identity through a fictitious marriage and flees to France, but his expired passports force him to return to Albania.
In Albania, on August 30, 2024, Elisi falls victim to an organized assassination attempt, where 14 bullets took his life while he was drinking coffee in a bar in Shkodra.
Investigations: Main track, clashes for drug trafficking – victim's mother objects
According to the investigation team, the murder is suspected to be linked to clashes between criminal groups for control of cocaine trafficking. The suspects include names such as Voltan Gianni, Giulio Malo and Dritan Milani – the latter, the brother of the person injured by Elisi in Belgium.
The operation codenamed "Enigma" led to the arrest of several people, but for Lindita, Elisi's mother, the only cause is the unresolved blood feud for the injury in Belgium.
"Elisi was not involved in drugs. I'm sure of that. Everyone tells me: he didn't know these people at all. The police have mixed things up. My son was killed for that injury in Belgium, because he said he doesn't forgive him," she says.
According to evidence gathered by the show, Elisi had been under surveillance days earlier. He frequented the same bar, consuming only coffee or water. The people who shot him used a gray Benz C-Class, which they then allegedly dismantled to cover their tracks.
The prosecution continues its investigations, while Lindita awaits justice, amidst pain, poverty, and endless tears.
"I have lost everything. My husband, my two sons, my hope... all I have left is justice"
With the voice of a broken mother, but with the courage of a woman who refuses to be silent, Lindita Rroshkodoli demands that the main line of investigation be heard and reviewed. She is convinced that her son was not part of the criminal world and asks that he not be labeled as such without clear evidence.
"I worked 16 hours a day just to bring him money to prison. Just so he wouldn't lack for anything. I barely kept him alive, and now they killed the only one I had left."
