Durim Bami, one of the most wanted persons by Albanian justice, was extradited from Dubai to Albania today. The 47-year-old, considered the strongman of Nikla, was deported from the United Arab Emirates after his arrest there a few months ago. The transfer was carried out under strict security measures and with the mediation of Interpol agents, initially to Istanbul and then to Albania.
Upon arrival at Rinas Airport, Bami was escorted by the Special Operations Force, the National Security Force, the "Eagle" forces, and the Prison Police, to be placed in a high-security detention facility, where he will face Albanian justice.
He was declared an international wanted person by SPAK as part of Operation "Revanshi". The Special Court had previously ordered him to be held in prison.
According to the indictment, Bami is suspected of being the creator, organizer and leader of a structured criminal group, involved in providing the conditions for committing murders, cultivating narcotic plants and committing criminal offenses within the criminal organization. Among the episodes investigated are also suspected plans for assassinations against several citizens.
In the same criminal file, SPAK has also sent other people for trial, including former MP Arben Ndoka, with whom Bami has had previous clashes. The name of Ervis Martinaj, who has been missing without a trace since 2022, is also mentioned in the investigations.
Albanian authorities announce that the investigative procedures against Bami have been completed and the case has been submitted for trial.
