At the Mandates Council meeting, SPAK representatives stated that Belinda Balluku's legal situation has worsened significantly compared to the moment when the first security measure was requested.
According to the prosecution, in the initial phase, Balluku risked up to 10 years in prison, while with the new charges currently filed, she risks up to 35 years in prison.
"In the situation when the first measure was requested against Ms. Balluku, she risked up to 10 years in prison; today as we speak, her situation has worsened, and with the prosecution's charges at this moment, Ms. Balluku risks up to 35 years in prison," the prosecutors stated.
On the other hand, the Socialist Party has opposed the arrest request. So far, Ulsi Manja has taken the floor, stressing that the current security measures against Balluk are sufficient for the needs of the investigation.
“The measures currently in force against Ms. Balluku are sufficient for the needs of the investigation,” Manja said.
The debate in the Mandates Council continues, and it is expected that the issue will be put to a vote in the plenary session.
