The debate in the Mandates Council on SPAK's request against Belinda Balluku was accompanied by direct questions from MP Ulsi Manja, addressed to the prosecutors in the case.
Manja requested clarification on the prosecution's claims that Balluku, directly or through other parties, has threatened persons connected to the investigation.
"Are those who have been threatened witnesses or defendants?" Manja asked.
SPAK representatives responded that this concerns both other defendants and witnesses who are not under investigation.
Manja followed up with another question: "Has all the evidence been seized?"
The prosecution responded curtly: “No.”
Next, the Council member asked to know what is the mechanism through which Balluku can tamper with evidence, being - according to him - suspended from duty.
The prosecutor responded that Balluku is still on duty and that the possible mechanism consists of meetings with subordinates.
The session at the Mandates Council is continuing amid debates, while SPAK's request for authorization for more severe security measures against Balluk is expected to be later voted on in the Assembly.
