Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji, has called on citizens to join the national protest called by the Democratic Party on Tuesday afternoon, February 10, in front of the Prime Minister's Office, against the government of Edi Rama.
Through a public message and an accompanying video, Salianji places the protest in the context of a long opposition cycle that, according to him, must end with political change. He also recalls his one-year prison sentence in the “Babale” case, presenting it as part of a political and institutional confrontation.
"It has been 13 difficult years of opposition, but the time for change has come! Tomorrow on 'Dëshmorët e Kombit' Boulevard, the word is for democrats and free people. Join the Democratic Party!", writes Salianji.
Alongside the call, the former MP has published a video that combines the moments of his conviction with recent meetings he has held with local DP structures, signaling an attempt to maintain direct contact with the democratic base.
However, his mobilization comes in a climate of tension within the Democratic Party itself. Salianji has expressed open criticism of the current leadership, while for months he has been holding parallel meetings with the party structures in the districts. On the other hand, the DP chairman has described him as "self-excluded", saying that he has crossed the party's "red lines".
