Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the claim of the Hague Prosecution, which requested a 45-year prison sentence for four former KLA leaders. In an emotional reaction, Rama says that he was asked by friends from Pristina why he did not speak out publicly about his friend earlier, but emphasizes that the lack of reaction does not come from indifference.
“Honestly, I can’t express myself,” Rama says, stressing that he is still trying to understand the logic on which the Prosecution has built this severe sentence request. According to him, it is a decision that he experiences as “a burial alive” for the four men.
The Prime Minister underlines that, unlike other times, words are not helping him to express the indignation and shock he feels, asking for time to cope with what he describes as a grave injustice produced "in the heart of democratic Europe."
Rama's reaction comes after The Hague's claim, while continuing to cause strong reactions in Albanian public opinion.
