At a meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that the government will consider an international legal expertise regarding the Belinda Balluku case.
According to sources for VNA, Rama has acknowledged that judicial decision-making in this case "interferes with competencies and has effects on the sector," so - he said - the executive must be careful how to manage its part.
The Prime Minister was determined to defend justice reform, emphasizing that even if he could go back in time, he would do the same thing regardless of the political and institutional costs.
A direct message was addressed to Socialist MPs: to be careful with public statements about legal changes in the justice system.
“SPAK is SPAK. This cannot be the registry,” Rama is reported to have said, suggesting that political rhetoric should not create a perception of pressure on the justice system.
However, in this meeting, the head of government left many open questions:
• he did not articulate any date for the SP assembly on changes in the government;
• he did not give a date for the meeting of the Mandates Council;
• and he did not clarify whether or not Belinda Balluku will continue in the cabinet.
Thus, the issue remains on political hold, while the government warns that it will analyze international expertise for further steps.
