Sources from the majority confirm that the Socialist Party will not accept the formula proposed by the Democratic Party for the election of the People's Advocate. According to the same sources, the candidates who have collected the necessary signatures will be voted on in the plenary session, without being previously filtered by the opposition.
The Socialist Party underlines that the election of the People's Advocate will be carried out within December, as the process is part of the obligations stemming from the European Union.
A day earlier, the leader of the parliamentary group Taulant Balla declared that the Socialist Party had withdrawn from any candidacy proposals and would accept the candidates presented by the opposition. Shortly after, Gazment Bardhi, his Democratic counterpart, submitted a document proposing that the opposition select 6 candidates, while the majority select 3 of them.
Despite Bardhi's scheme, the majority confirms that it will continue with the process according to the current regulations and with the list of candidates submitted to the Assembly.
