The head of the group section number 2 in Unit 9 in Tirana has directly told the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, that the deputies have severed the connection with the party base. According to him, the fact that an analysis was not carried out within the DP and the deputies who received poor results on May 11 were not dismissed from the party leadership has also brought disappointment.
He also added that the promotion of worn-out figures in the DP has demotivated the Democrats, and for this reason they are struggling to fill the election commissions.
"The first point is the accountability of MPs by area for failures in the campaign and elections. I thought that when the Platform started, we were all very enthusiastic that this side of the DP would take the lead. The MP who did not get the right results would be dismissed or would not be given the opportunity to continue on the path. It is very easy to stay with the salary of an MP in the opposition, but difficult when you are a simple democrat. Such an analysis would have motivated those of us who have been active. I do not know the government; we are motivated by anger and the ideal that makes us active with the DP. When I see that a person without good results is promoted in the DP, I, as a young person, get discouraged. This is the reason why the Democrats are unmotivated and we are barely filling the committees," he said.
He referred to the primaries for the May 11 elections, which according to him were ignored, by not including the names voted for by the DP structures in the lists, and said that the elected deputies have no connection to the structure.
"For me, the primary is the moment when a leader is elected, for example, we are talking about Unit 9, it is Edia, tomorrow it could be someone else. For me, the primary is closed there. That person must be an MP. This gives motivation. Now we deal with the structure, while the MP comes to us for six months, leaves us, someone else comes and we cannot connect with the MPs. This is my logic as a structure, not as a sympathizer," he said.
The section leader further asked Berisha to evaluate meritocracy in the DP and promote those who actually work with the Democrats, not just those who stay in the headquarters close to the president.
"I think that if there is a hierarchy in the DP, a ladder that must be climbed and respected by everyone, it would be better and would generate more enthusiasm than when someone sits only near the center and is disconnected from the base, which is made up of those of us who are on the ground and need focus," he said.
Berisha launched today's Speech number 2 from Unit 9 in Tirana, while tomorrow the group that is demanding changes in the way the DP is run has announced a meeting with the party's structures in Durrës.
