At today's meeting of the Constitutional Court's body of judges, chaired by member Marsida Xhaferllari, it was decided to launch procedures for the election of the new president.
We recall that Holta Zaçaj's mandate as president of this court ended on March 10 of this year.
Those interested in being the president of this court must submit a written request within 5 days.

DECISION No. 11, dated 02.12.2025 “ON THE START OF THE PROCEDURES FOR THE ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT”
Meeting of Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, composed of: Marsida Xhaferllari. Chairwoman Fiona Papajorgji, Member Sonila Bejtja, Member Sandër Beci, Member Ilir Toska, Member Genti Ibrahimi, Member Marjana Semini, Member Asim Vokshi. Member convened on 02.12.2025, based on article 7/d of law no. 8577, dated 10.02.2000 “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended (law no. 8577/2000), as well as articles 9 and 10 of the Regulation on Judicial Procedures of the Constitutional Court (the Regulation),
NOTE:
1. By decision no. 84, dated 23.12.2024, the Constitutional Court has decided to declare the end of the mandate of Constitutional Court judge Ms. Holta Zaçaj, on 10.03.2025.
2. By decision no. 2, dated 30.09.2025, the Special Meeting of Judges of the Supreme Court has decided on the election of Mr. Asim Vokshi to the office of Judge of the Constitutional Court, who on 25.11.2025 took the oath before the President of the Republic.
3. In accordance with Article 8, paragraph 1, of Law No. 8577/2000, the judge of the Constitutional Court shall assume office after taking the oath before the President.
4. With the election of the newest member, Ms. Holta Zaçaj, who was also the President of this Court, has completed her term as a member of the Constitutional Court.
5. In this situation, the Assembly of Judges of the Constitutional Court (Assembly of Judges) considers that the procedures for the election of the new President should be initiated. In the circumstances where the position has remained vacant, the Assembly of Judges considers that the deadlines provided for by the Regulation should be halved, in accordance with the provisions of point 6 of article 9 of this act.
FOR THESE REASONS, The Meeting of Judges of the Court, pursuant to Articles 7/d of Law No. 8577, dated 10.2.2000 “On the Organization and Functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended, and Articles 9 and 10 of the Rules of Procedure of the Constitutional Court,
DECIDED:
Commencement of procedures for the election of the President of the Constitutional Court. A written request for expression of interest from judges may be submitted no later than 5 days from the entry into force of this decision.
