Veliaj leaves cell for second time since February, requests access to his file
The preliminary hearing for Erion Veliaj's case at the GJKKO was postponed again. Veliaj, present in the courtroom, stated that he was denied the right to familiarize himself with the case files, considering this a brutal violation of the right to effective protection. He emphasized that being held in a "cage" during the hearing is degrading and humiliating treatment.
Veliaj requested to be provided with technological devices in prison or to be allowed to come to court every day to study the file. He has been in custody since February, accused of money laundering, failure to declare assets, passive corruption in 9 episodes, abuse of office and bringing prohibited items into the cell.
