Ilir Alimehmeti spoke about his meeting with Ervin Salianji and the most voted in the DP. In an interview for Report TV, Alimehmeti said that this meeting comes after the DP bodies do not meet to discuss and criticizes that no meeting of the National Council has been held for 9 months.
Alimehmeti says that elections will be held within the DP in the spring after the mandates end. According to him, it is important for the DP to organize transparent elections because only in this way can it gain support from the citizens.

"The National Council is not being convened, it has been 9 months since it was convened. We have not been convened through institutional channels. The institutional channel starts from the top down, we had several requests and proposals that will be taken to the DP leadership at the first meeting it will hold. A complete reorganization is needed, and for this you know that in the coming months we have the end of all our mandates, in the spring.
There will be elections within the party, here we are asking for an open and fair competition, to compete for every possible position from beginning to end, from the first to the last, at every level of the party hierarchy. There are great doubts that this is achieved and that it does not function properly, we have discussed it in the media, you have seen the primaries process, the discussions that have taken place inside, but it is necessary for the DP to set an example by organizing transparent elections within itself, because that way people will then trust you, and support you in such numbers that you will be an alternative to government", he said.
