The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party and the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, has commented on the debates of recent days within the Democratic Party, describing them as a normal part of a political force that is in the process of reforming.
According to him, the DP is currently "an open field of ideas, analyses, proposals and debates", where discussions in the leadership and in the parliamentary group are numerous and not always the same, but this is the nature of this party.
Gjekmarkaj, invited to the studio of the show "Kjo Javë" on News24, emphasized that Sali Berisha has always been open to the reorganization of the DP, in-depth analysis and internal competition. Gjekmarkaj commented on the meeting of the most voted in the primaries. He emphasized that it is not a problem why members or deputies of the DP drink coffee, but according to him, a storm was created by the media to create events in the DP.
"The DP is currently an open construction site, and a construction site of ideas, analyses, proposals and debates. We debated for hours in the DP leadership a week ago. The debates are not always consistent with each other, but this is the DP."
We debated in the DP parliamentary group. These things become news, but those that take the weight of the news do not become news. Berisha has always spoken about opening up, about reforming the DP, about a deep analysis and about competition.
He has been quite open, I think. For other things, then, let's say my friend Ervin Salianji, who you know very well that I value, who has paid a real political cost with sacrifice. I do not wish prison on anyone. He is a member of the DP, an asset to it, a man who has spoken in the leadership and will speak again. I also do not see where the concern is when Ervin Salianji drinks coffee with 9 or 10 democrats.
"I do not feel any kind of concern and I have not seen any concern. This is a storm, in a teacup raised by thirst, that the media have to create events in the DP, when the events are in the other camp. It is more than normal for 9-10 deputies to sit in a cafe, whether from open or closed lists," he said.
