Ilir Alimehmeti has reacted to the statements of Gazment Bardhi, who minimized the meeting of the elected figures of the DP, calling it "just coffee." Asked by journalist Robert Rakipllari, Alimehmeti said that the problem lies in the lack of communication from the leaders of the DP, not in the meeting in question.
"To be honest, I don't comment on Facebook statuses. If the leadership wanted to, they would have called me. I am a member of the National Council, but they didn't call us," declared Alimehmeti.
He emphasized that Democrats are talking to each other because they have been left out of the decision-making process:
“The answer is: no, there has been no opportunity to talk. Let's take matters into our own hands. Not talking and avoiding things leads to situations like the ones we have today — a rotten government and an opposition that cannot bring people together.”
Alimehmeti emphasized that the responsibility falls on the leaders of the DP, who have not called any of the elected members:
"Privileges and responsibilities go up. They have our phone numbers, we always answer. But they have not called us. We continue our work with the Democrats."
His reaction comes as another clear signal of internal tensions in the DP and the growing distance between the current leadership and the figures voted for by the grassroots.
