The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commented on the meeting held yesterday by a number of Democratic Party exponents.
Berisha stated that normally coffee meetings do not deserve comment, but emphasized that the DP remains the most open and democratic party in the country.
"Normally, coffee meetings do not deserve comments, but the DP is the most open and democratic party in this country for any kind of thought, idea, and that's all I can say," he said.
According to Berisha, the internal analysis process has begun and instructions have been issued. He underlined that such meetings are neither news nor innovation, accusing the media of using these episodes to cover up the "super scandals of Rama and Lubia."
"There has been and will be diversity of opinion in this party," said Berisha, adding that he is not at all concerned by these internal movements.
"Am I worried? No. The people who received the most votes are in Parliament. For the open lists, they are honorable people, they are prominent activists of the DP and people with undeniable contributions to the DP and it is the most normal thing to have a different opinion in the party."
He added that each member has their own institutional place to express their opinions:
"Salianji is a member of the DP Presidency and has a place to express his opinions. The others are... Alimehmeti is the first opposition advisor in Tirana. Everyone has a place to express their opinions."
Berisha emphasized that his door is open to every democrat, but that the instances exist and must be respected:
"I expect every Democrat in the office, but all Democrats are invited to express their opinions. There's nothing new here, to be honest."
