The full list of candidates for the position of Ombudsman, who have submitted their signatures to the Assembly and are expected to go to the plenary session for a vote, has been published. The deadline for submitting candidacies has ended today.
The list of candidates is as follows:
• Aranita Brahaj
• Besim Ndregjonaj
• Jola Hysaj
• Tartar Bazaj
• Adriana Kalaja
• Endri Shabani
The Socialist Party has announced that it will respect parliamentary tradition and will not impose conditions on votes, supporting the candidacies proposed by the opposition.
"Mainly, we will not support a candidate, but we will evaluate candidacies that have been supported with signatures from the opposition," declared the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla.
The formula for electing the Ombudsman
According to the agreed procedure, the opposition proposes up to six candidates from the list of applicants, while the majority selects three of them that it considers acceptable.
From these three candidates, the opposition then determines the name to be presented to the plenary session for a consensus vote.
The Assembly is expected to set the calendar for the session in the coming days where the candidate for Ombudsman will be reviewed and voted on.
