The Democratic Party parliamentary group has been reminded to put on its parliamentary agenda the concerns that have been coming for several months about the abuses and scandalous service at the Oncology Department.
In a request to the Parliament, the DP requests the development of a motion with debate on the situation created in the oncology service at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center.
The request states that the latest report by the Supreme State Audit Office has highlighted the serious situation in which the healthcare sector, especially the oncology service, is currently located.
"The ALSHI report highlights and substantiates the concerns constantly raised in the media and the complaints of cancer patients about the lack of medicines, the use of expired medicines, the lack of laboratory controls, as well as the provision of timely services," the DP states.
Given that the opposition bases its request on the conclusions of the Supreme Audit Office, it would be more fair to request an Investigative Commission for the case in question, rather than conditioning it solely on a motion with debate.
In this way, they would not only be able to address more seriously the numerous problems that have been identified by the Albanian Supreme Audit Office, but they would also be able to directly confront those responsible for creating that scandalous situation.
Moreover, one of the responsible parties is the former Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, whom the opposition is currently facing as a candidate for the Tirana municipality, and it would be a good opportunity to hold her accountable for the time she led the ministry, a time that the socialists recognize as a success.
But the opposition believes that the Commission of Inquiry is more valuable to McGonigal than to an institution where citizens struggle between life and death, while what is most painful are the shortcomings in the provision of services.
