The Socialist Party has apparently taken on the opposition's job. Yesterday, about 70 miners in Spaç, Mirdita, protested, demanding improved working conditions and higher wages. But they faced violent clashes with the police, and seven of them were taken to the police station.
The images of the clash with the police made the rounds on the Internet, but they did not reach the representatives of the opposition to come out to their side. Apparently, the socialist MP Erion Braçe has decided to come out to their side, who, with the desire to criticize the government of which he is a part, has denounced the behavior of the police towards the miners' protest in Spaç. He has described the action as a flagrant violation of the Constitution and labor rights.
"The behavior of the State Police, and of some of its officers, is unacceptable! It is a serious violation, with hands, feet and mouths, of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania," Braçe wrote in a post on social networks. "Who are these people who deny miners a constitutional right?", writes Erion Braçe in outrage.
Perhaps Braçe is doing it for media protagonism, since he is a majority MP and it is easier for him to tell the Minister of Interior that the police's behavior is unfair. But at least he is a political voice that comes out in support of the miners, which is what representatives of the opposition should have done. The latter should have been in their support, to give more voice to the miners' demands and not be satisfied with a status of Agron Gjekmarkaj on Facebook the day after the police raped them.
