The new Minister of Health, Evis Sala, has just taken office and it seems as if she has discovered a different Albania. “Although I didn’t know it and could have missed it, the changes are visible. It is better structurally than in the hospitals where I worked. When you see how good the hospital structure is…”, she said, giving the impression that our health system is almost a model – at least on paper and in appearance.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present at its presentation, who promised a partnership with one of the most well-known companies in the field of artificial intelligence for healthcare services.
But, while the prime minister talks about technology and AI, Albanian hospitals face basic shortages: disinfection and medications. No matter how much Rama tries to “cover the sun with a sieve” and the new minister appears optimistic, the health situation in the country remains catastrophic. To understand this, a single visit to public hospitals is enough.
