The parliamentary majority has rejected the opposition's request to dismiss the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi. Socialist Party deputies have prepared a report listing the reasons why the opposition's request was not accepted, which has now been sent to the plenary session for approval.
The report emphasizes that none of the violations alleged by the Democratic Party have been proven. According to the majority, Peleshi has correctly exercised all his constitutional and legal responsibilities in leading the plenary sessions.
"The Speaker of the Assembly has meticulously implemented all his constitutional and legal responsibilities in conducting the plenary session. The Speaker of the Assembly has shown a spirit of cooperation and tolerance in conducting parliamentary activity as a whole, respecting first and foremost his opposition MP colleagues and standing above the parties while conducting the session," the report states.
The Socialists add that the opposition's request does not meet the essential condition that the violation be for constitutional reasons, as provided for in Article 114/1 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
