The Central Election Commission has completed the payment of 6.7 million euros to the postal company DHL for the diaspora voting service in the May 11 elections.
Initially, the company had requested 9.2 million euros, including interest on arrears, but after verifications of the contract, the CEC decided to liquidate only the final amount of 6.7 million euros.
The Chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, had previously stated that the payment would be made only after the verifications were completed.
The diaspora voting process in these elections has been considered the most expensive in the country's electoral history, and was accompanied by a number of problems, including cases in Greece, where many immigrants did not receive their ballot envelopes in time.
