Former Minister of Infrastructure in the "Kurti 2" Government, Liburn Aliu, was officially appointed today as the new director of the Port of Durres. The presentation ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, who had just returned from an official visit to Romania.
During his speech, Aliu thanked the Albanian authorities for the trust they have placed in him and spoke humorously about his ties with both countries.
"I am honored and thank the Republic of Albania, the Prime Minister and the Minister for entrusting me with this task. Here you see me as from Kosovo, there you see me as from Albania — it is not easy… but we will do this task together. I hope that in three years we will see the cargo port completed and connected to the road and railway networks of the region," he said.
Aliu attended high school for several years in Albania. He is expected to lead one of the most important infrastructure and transportation projects in the country, that of transforming the Port of Durres into a strategic trade hub for the region.
