After the statement that sparked debate, Democratic MP Besard Xhaferri has retracted his stance that "Berisha must leave in 2026 if elections are not repeated."
On A2 CNN, Xhaferri called the whole noise "an artificial debate," emphasizing that there is no rebellion and that the relationship with Sali Berisha is unchanged.
"There was no anger from the mayor. They contacted me, I explained everything to them. I will continue to work without stopping with Sali Berisha to overthrow Edi Rama," he said.
The Democrat MP added that Berisha is and remains the best person to lead the DP, while emphasizing that the main issue is not his re-nomination, but the electoral farce of May 11, which according to him should be turned into a national and international cause.
"Berisha's reelection is his decision and that of the membership. The primary topic is the repeat of the elections, not useless debates," Xhaferri emphasized, ending any doubts about his political stance.
