The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has supported Prime Minister Edi Rama's idea to reduce the number of deputies in Parliament, but on the condition that the Assembly become bicameral.
At today's media conference, Berisha also said that he is ready to sit down with Rama to change the constitution, if Albania decides to have a Senate in Parliament.
"There is another opinion. I agree with this variant, that the parliament should be made bicameral. But as a restraining institution. The Senate is useful. If Albania decides to have a Senate, then the number of deputies should undoubtedly be reduced. Municipalities should not be reduced, but should be increased. There is nothing to touch the constitution. If we need to establish the Senate of the Assembly, I am ready to sit at the table", said Berisha.
It seems that this is another message from Berisha for cooperation with Rama, who, if they agree, will be the second time they have sat down to change the country's Constitution.
