Pandi Nakoleci, the 40-year-old Albanian man who killed his wife Marjola Nakoleci, 36, in front of their children in the Greek city of Volos, appeared in court on Sunday. As he arrived, he did not answer reporters’ questions about “Why did you do it?” and whether he had any remorse for his actions, standing silently with his head bowed.
According to Greek media, inside the courthouse he met his 18-year-old daughter, to whom he told her: "I was confused, I didn't want to do it."
The prosecution has filed a criminal charge against him for intentional homicide of a victim of domestic violence. The investigating officer has given him a deadline to submit a request for pardon on Tuesday at 10:00.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office has ordered the launch of a social investigation into the couple's minor children, to determine their custody and further residence. Currently, the children are staying with relatives of the deceased mother.
After the crime, Nakolec remained on the run for more than 24 hours, trying to escape police pursuit. He was caught hiding in a grassy area, about 200 meters from his home, in an abandoned parking lot.
According to the testimonies of neighbors and passersby, during the moment of his arrest he displayed aggression and told the officers that his wife had betrayed him. "I did good to her. She deserved this. I don't regret anything," are alleged to have been his first words after his arrest.
