A few minutes ago, in the coastal city of Durrës, near a hotel owned by former mayor Vangjush Dako, a quantity of explosive material, suspected to be TNT, was discovered.
The hotel is located in neighborhood no. 1, near the "Gjergj Kastrioti" high school, and the explosive was found near the building, connected to a mobile phone, which indicates that it was ready to be activated remotely.
After immediate notification by the hotel staff, police forces, engineers and an investigation team arrived at the scene. Explosives experts carried out a controlled explosion of the substance, avoiding an event with serious consequences.
Media sources indicate that there are currently no suspects, while security camera footage in the area is being collected to identify the possible perpetrator or perpetrators. Police have not yet confirmed whether the incident is related to personal issues, revenge or criminal pressure.
We recall that Vangjush Dako, the former mayor of Durres, has previously been under investigation for various affairs while he was the mayor. However, there is currently no information whether the incident has any direct connection to his previous political activity or his private businesses.
