Mariglen Qorri, 40 years old, vegetable exporter and owner of the company "Era-Fruit", together with two employees of the National Food Authority (AKU), Griselda Doksani and Ronaldo Lika, both 25 years old, appeared today at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Berat, to be informed of personal security measures.
Outside the courthouse, family members, farmers, and other exporters were present, expressing support for Qorri.
The prosecutor in the case, Arjeta Plaku, after reading the charges against the arrested, requested the legal qualification of the arrest and the application of the security measure "prison arrest" for the three people.
After reviewing the request and hearing the defense lawyers, Judge Ardiola Çela decided to consider the arrest as lawful. She ordered "prison arrest" for Mariglen Qorri, while she ordered "house arrest" for the two AKU employees.
The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, as part of the police operation codenamed "Again", finalized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section in cooperation with the Special Operational Force, under the direction of the Berat Prosecutor's Office.
Qorri, a resident of Kuçovë, is accused of several criminal offenses: "Importing, producing, selling and storing food dangerous to human health or life", "Fraud with food products", and "Forgery of documents".
According to the prosecution's investigative file, he had exported to Croatia 8 tons of tomatoes with a high content of the banned substance "Chlorefenapyr", a shipment that was blocked and destroyed by the Croatian authorities. To avoid liability, Qorri is suspected of using fictitious invoices, simulating purchases from other farmers.
Meanwhile, AKU employees, Griselda Doksani and Ronaldo Lika, are accused of "Abuse of duty", as it is suspected that during the inspection of the subject they fictitiously completed the documentation, thus allowing the dangerous product to leave the country.
