A serious incident occurred yesterday morning in neighborhood no. 6 near the stadium in Durrës, where a 43-year-old man lost his life after coming into contact with electricity while crossing a flooded street.
The victim, Bardhyl Kaloshi, a father of three, is suspected of having touched an electric lighting pole, inside of which were exposed cables. The contact with the current proved fatal for him.
Footage and testimonies from the scene show that Kaloshi immediately falls to the ground after being electrocuted, while passersby who tried to help him retreated due to the high risk of electrical shock.
According to residents and businesses in the area, the damaged pole had been reported as a potential hazard for more than a week, but the responsible authorities had not taken any action. On the morning of September 11, the negligence proved fatal, taking the life of a man and leaving three children fatherless.
The event has sparked anger and shock in public opinion, while the reaction of the responsible institutions is expected to shed light on the causes and hold accountable those who have neglected the situation.
