Vlora merchants have protested again in front of the "Petro Marko" Theater, opposing the decision of the Municipal Council to relocate them from their current trading areas. The protest is taking place as Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to arrive in the city.
Fruit and vegetable traders are opposing the municipality's decision to move to the Çole market, while industrialists are moving to the Shumica market, in Jalli, Narta. The protesters claim that the decision was made without sufficient consultation and without guarantees for minimum working conditions.
They warn that the move away from the city center could significantly reduce the number of customers and jeopardize the income of dozens of families. Also, traders say that the new spaces are not yet functional and do not provide the necessary infrastructure for the normal development of activity.
The protesters are demanding a review of the decision and the initiation of a genuine consultation process, while warning of continued protests if their demands are not taken into account.
