Lawyer Maks Haxhia says that his client, Ergys Agasi, is abroad and under these conditions cannot appear before the justice system.
In a statement to the media, the lawyer said: "Only if he is crazy and comes," emphasizing that "they want to throw the keys into the sea."
"This situation, which has been created by the castile and by raising serious accusations, means that the implementation of the security measure no longer gives him any chance to communicate with justice," said Haxhia.
He emphasized that he has no contact with the client, but only communicates with his family members.
"Mr. Agasi, according to the information I have from the family, is not in Albania. But, given this situation, where accusations are being raised that are absurd for a person without power, Mr. Agasi has nothing to do with the tenders at AKSHI. He has finished his work, but in this field, only if he is a man who will throw the key into the sea can he come and appear before the justice organs," said Haxhia.
The lawyer emphasized that Agasi has never held a public office and, therefore, cannot be held responsible for matters related to tenders or state decision-making.
"The charges against Ergys Agas are absurd. Charges are being brought against a man who has never held and does not hold any public office," Haxhia said, adding that his client has never had decision-making power in state institutions.
Lawyer Haxhia's statement also indicates that Agasi may have left to evade justice and not, as he claimed in December of last year, that he had gone abroad to conclude some agreements and would return to Albania.
"He has not escaped, but is in a country concluding an agreement. When he returns, he will face justice. At these moments, Agas's movements coincide very much with these political developments. SPAK is compromised by this leaking of investigations," Haxhia told the media, after having withdrawn documents related to his client from SPAK.
SPAK accuses Ergys Agas of involvement in a suspected scheme to manipulate public tenders at the Albanian Public Procurement Agency, in collaboration with other officials and businessmen. The charges relate to violations of equality in tenders and unlawful influence in public procurement procedures.
