The next preliminary hearing at the Special Court against former President Ilir Meta, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi and three other defendants will be postponed, because the lawyers have expressed solidarity with their colleague Kujtim Cakrani.
The latter was attacked by two people in Vlora, as he entered a gas station to refuel his vehicle. The people who attacked him have not yet been identified. Vlora police said they suspect that lawyer Cakrani was attacked for weak motives.
Kujtim Cakrani is defending former President Ilir Meta, who is facing charges of corruption and money laundering, in his legal battle with the judiciary. The legal defender has currently left the hospital and is in his apartment.
