A well-organized operation conducted in the late hours of Tuesday evening, around 11:00 PM, led to the dismantling of a structured criminal group operating in the field of narcotics trafficking.
The action was carried out by the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, and was successfully finalized near midnight.
As a result of the police intervention, three people were arrested in flagrante delicto. During the search of the vehicle in which they were traveling, the police seized approximately 45 kilograms of suspected narcotic cannabis sativa, a combat firearm with ammunition, a significant amount of money, as well as several mobile phones with Albanian and foreign SIM cards.
According to police sources, the operation was accompanied by the pursuit of a vehicle suspected of transporting narcotics. At the entrance to the city of Elbasan, the driver of the vehicle, after noticing the presence of law enforcement, attempted to flee at speed, entering an unlit street in a suburban neighborhood, but was neutralized by the police.
Investigations continue to fully document the criminal activity and identify other persons involved.
