The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of Orges Bilbili and Anterio Kaloshi, upholding the life imprisonment sentence for the 2017 massacre in Lushnja.
Bilbili, Kaloshi and Laert Haxhiu are accused of the murder of Zamir Latifi and Jurgen Hoxha, as well as the injury of Marjus Xhepexhiu and Bujar Turku. Haxhiu, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment in two instances, is awaiting the review of his appeal in the High Court. Haxhiu was extradited from Greece on July 3 last year, a year after his arrest in the neighboring country.
Investigations into the group began after the collaboration of Artan Tafani, previously arrested for robbery in the Astir area, who discovered at least six criminal events where Laert Haxhiu played a role as organizer, participant or orderer.
Anterio Kaloshi was arrested on August 13, 2020, after shooting at the "Voloreka" hotel in Pogradec and was wanted for the Lushnja massacre. Meanwhile, Orgest Bilbili was captured on April 10, 2020 in the Xhamlliku area of Tirana, being injured while trying to flee.
Investigators point out that the target in the Lushnja massacre was Aldo Bare's nephew, Xhulio Shkurti, who escaped after getting up from the table a few minutes earlier.
