The heavy rains that have been hitting the country since Monday have caused significant problems for residents of several villages in Pogradec. In the village of Rëmenj, a house has collapsed due to water flows, while the owner, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Tirana, is appealing for help.
"I'm undergoing chemo, where can I go, I'm the sixth one myself. Where can I sleep today? I've taken the children to the neighbor's house," he said.
The situation remains dire in the village of Proger in Devoll, where a 75-year-old woman, suspected of having mental health problems, has been missing since Friday morning. Family members notified the police, and it is suspected that the elderly woman may have been swept away by the strong current.
According to the latest data, the rainfall has caused water to flow from the Vërdova, Rëmenj and Qyteti rivers. In the villages of Rëmenj and Gështenjas, water has been reported in homes, while landslides have been recorded in Dardhas, Proptisht and Çërrava.
