The Inspectorate of Territorial Protection landed this Saturday in front of the Faculty of History and Philology to destroy an illegal bar in the area. The bar is owned by brothers Shkëlqim Duka and Florian Duka, suspected of being the perpetrators of the murder of businessman Eduart Reçi on November 13, 2024 in Tirana.
The Duka family opposes the demolition and has filed a petition with the court to block further actions, claiming that by destroying the bar in this way, evidence related to the murder of the businessman is being destroyed. The police considered the bar a crime scene because the Duka brothers, according to investigations, used a tunnel inside the bar to escape from the stairs of the hotel opposite where they committed the murder.
The Duka family claims that the demolition of the bar will severely damage the investigations and cover up the truth of Reç's murder, as neither the police nor they themselves will have the opportunity to conduct an investigative experiment.
They go even further when they state that the authorities, without waiting for the court's decision, are rushing to cover up the real perpetrators of the incident.
Shkëlqim Duka, a police officer at Police Station No. 2 in Tirana, and his brother Floriani are suspected of killing the businessman because of a building he wanted to build and they had conflicts over ownership.
The two brothers have been held in custody for nearly a year on suspicion of murder and illegal possession of weapons.
