SPAK has completed the investigation against the mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristian Shkreli, and has filed the criminal file with the Special Court, where it is seeking his trial for the criminal offense of "active corruption in elections."
Shkreli was indicted in early October, while the investigation against him began during the May 11 electoral campaign, while the local official was free. A few days after the elections, BKH agents seized his mobile phone. It is learned that the mayor was wiretapped while soliciting votes in exchange for two public investments, the reconstruction of a rural road and the repair of an electricity line.
Shkreli, chosen as the Socialist Party's candidate in 2023, was also at the center of criticism during the May 2025 campaign, following a public comment by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"Kristian, don't play with two goals, Kristian," referring to suspicions that the mayor may have campaigned for Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party, and not for the Socialist Party.
