The Supreme Court has decided to uphold the decision of the Special Appeal for the life imprisonment sentence of Xhulian Hoxha and 16 years in prison for Euglen Halili, in connection with the murder of Emiljano Ramazan and Regis Runaj.
The convicts had filed an appeal with the High Court, requesting the annulment of the decision issued by the Special Appeal on April 8, 2024. However, the third instance of the judiciary decided to reject their request and leave the previous decision in force, thus sealing the final conviction of the two defendants.
The event for which they were convicted occurred in July 2020 in Elbasan, where Emiljano Ramazani was killed on July 20, 2020, while Regis Runaj was found stabbed to death on July 29 of that same year, in the "Emin Matraxhiu" neighborhood, near the city cemetery.
The Supreme Court's decision marks the final closure of the judicial process, confirming the severe sentences for the perpetrators of the events that shook Elbasan in the summer of 2020.
