Albanian citizen Altin Sinomati, who is believed to be the instigator of the murder of Selavdi Shehaj, known as Passerotto, killed on September 20, 2020, on the beach of Torvaianica, a town in the province of Rome, was arrested in Abu Dhabi by the United Arab Emirates Police.
The arrest took place in connection with the international search for the fugitive, the so-called Red Notice, requested by the Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Rome District.
Sinomat is accused of having given the order to order the elimination of Shehaj by Raul Esteban Calderon (already sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Fabrizio Piscitelli), physically delivering to him the sum of 150,000 euros as compensation for the execution.
For the crime in question, Calderon as the perpetrator and Giuseppe Molisso as an accomplice have already been sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance by the Frosinone Court of Serious Crimes.
Sinomati, in another criminal case, is accused because it was believed to be part of one of the main cocaine supply channels of the organization operating in Rome and led by Molisso and Leandro Bennato, which was dismantled by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Rome in an operation carried out on March 18, 2025.
During the execution of the operation, which took place immediately after Calderon's arrest for the murder of Shehaj, Sinomati had escaped capture because, apparently, it feared being the target of the investigative action coordinated by the Rome prosecutor's office and had moved its base to the United Arab Emirates.
