Albanians have not yet made it their culture and routine to visit the dentist periodically. The older they are, the fewer oral health consultations they have, and most go to the dentist when the pain doesn't stop.
Dentists are calling for increased oral hygiene awareness among adults. They say prevention is the best treatment.
"The biggest problem is the symptoms that they bring, the pain or the very severe infection of the dental system. Nutrition and heredity have a big impact, but care is the priority of all priorities," said dentist Hydajet Ponari.
When it comes to children, the situation is different. The introduction of dental services in schools has increased awareness but also the timely treatment of dental problems, whether it be dental caries or orthodontic problems. /Euronews Albania/
