A serious incident has been recorded in Pogradec, where an elderly man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 12-year-old minor. The incident was only discovered after a medical examination, which revealed that the minor is in her 22nd week of pregnancy.
According to official sources, the girl's parents had noticed physical changes in their daughter and had sent her for a medical check-up at the Korça Hospital. After the examinations, the doctors confirmed the 12-year-old's pregnancy.
The police have made it possible to identify and immediately arrest the suspected perpetrator, a citizen around 70 years old, who was closely acquainted with the victim's family. From the initial testimonies, it is learned that the elderly man had repeatedly threatened the minor not to tell about the abuse, exerting psychological pressure on her.
The minor girl gave her testimony to investigators in the presence of a psychologist, where she recounted the dynamics of the incident. Meanwhile, police are questioning family members and other people who may have knowledge of the circumstances.
