It has been a few hours since the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja took place and the comments on the networks are shocking. The prevailing comment is: "Good luck to the murderer, his soul has come to the tip of his nose with this justice!" Horrible. A society that has its mind on weapons and blood, that reacts only when someone's life is taken, but never protests for the rights that are violated every day. A society that takes to the streets only when called by the party, not conscience.
Astrit Kalaja, beyond being a judge, was a husband and father. His life was forgiven by God, and only He has the right to take it, not the hand of man.
The state washed its hands immediately after the murder, hiding behind statuses. I'm starting with the nameless and voiceless ministers who rushed to wash their hands, declaring that security in the courts is not their responsibility but the court's own — this is also a shame in itself. A judge is killed in the courtroom and the state, instead of being alarmed, rushes to post condolences on social networks. A weak institutional reaction in the face of a tragedy that strikes at the very heart of the rule of law.
The Prime Minister, who attacks and ridicules judges and prosecutors every day and night, today expresses "fraternal condolences." But a civil servant was killed in his workplace — where he should have been safer than anywhere else. And without any sense of responsibility, he declares that "the Criminal Code must be toughened." But how can we toughen it more, Mr. Prime Minister? The murder of a judge is punishable by life imprisonment. Or maybe you want to restore the death penalty? If you have the courage, let's change the Constitution! But you, as a "great European", have lowered your pants in the face of Brussels' demands, and you only say "Yes, man" to everything.
The president who is silent and the opposition that does not exist
The President of the Republic, instead of convening the National Security Council, posts a status on Facebook. He convened the Council for the war in Ukraine, but not for the murder of a judge in the courtroom. Motherfucker, where did we get the state that tells us that “it is ready for the EU” because “the Sun helps us”.
But this people is an orphan, because the opposition is also dead. They will make “gam-gam” for three days, and on the seventh of the deceased judge everything will return to normal. They will eat their shame with bread and will run after the salary that Rama gives them.
Fatmir Xhafaj will come out again and will reveal the “successes” of the justice reform — a reform that is neither in justice, nor in dignity, but only in human resources. Justice has run away with the wool: 140 thousand stock files! Even this case, today's one, had been wandering through the courts for 12 years.
Only the people can raise justice from the ruins.
The people must pour into the squares if they want honest courts, prosecutors with integrity, a responsible government and an opposition that does not sell morality for interest. It must force the government, the opposition and the internationals to sit down together and find the reason why Albanian justice has fallen so low. We must restore faith in independent justice — not in the justice of Fatmir Xhafaj with his friends who have privatized the system.
Only then will the hand of crime not point to another Astrit Kalaja! Until then, condolences to the family of Judge Astrit Kalaja and may God stop the hand of crime and turn his eyes on Albania and Albanians, because he has left us in the hands of the infidels!
