Ulsi Manja came out today with the thesis that the justice reform should be reviewed. In an interview with Grida Duma, he started talking about judges' salaries, but within a few minutes he moved on to the topic for which he had come to the TCH studio.
"What will be done with the backlogged files? The time has come to open this discussion. Symptoms of apathy in the justice system are appearing; in the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal there is a lack of transparency in decision-making and they consider this as something that happens inside their own house," said the chairman of the Laws Committee, according to whom "the time has come to discuss the topic: do Albanians have this quality justice that was promised to them in 2016?"
Ulsi Manja, as a "justice specialist", made the "big revelation" before Grida Duma: The prosecution is biased - he said - while we expect justice from the court, which should treat Albanian citizens equally. It is precisely in the courts that Mr. Manja sees the weakness of the system.
"I refer to the courts to step away from the role of notary and rise to the height assigned to them by the Constitution. For judges, there is only evidence," he said, warning the magistrates sharply from the TCH studio: "Put your finger on your mind, because we will intervene in the system."
It is likely that the chairman of the Laws Committee wanted to convey this very message today in TCH: that the justice reform, even though Edi Rama boasts that it is the work of the SP, needs changes. And since they have the votes, the majority seems confident in its steps to undertake this act. That is why the SP had chosen Ulsi as its messenger today…
