Yesterday, the government reopened the social network Tik-Tok, which it closed a year ago, with Edi Rama's promises that the platform would only be opened after security filters were put in place.
But the whole process turns out to be a big lie, as even after a year, nothing has changed and the filters are still a promise.
Today, in the trial that took place at the request of AGSH and BIRN, the government told the Constitutional Court that there was no written agreement with the Chinese company, but only a dialogue and a promise to install filters.
It was Judge Marjana Semini who asked the government whether the algorithm has now changed and whether the rules have been improved.
But Herald Jonuzaj, a government representative, said there was only an “agreement with TikTok to set up filters.”
The representative of the Ministry of Education, Erzen Tola, said that Tik Tok will publish awareness-raising videos and will set up filters with keywords in the Albanian language that will not be allowed to be published.
But when the court specifically asked: is the agreement in writing, Rama came out unfazed.
"There is a commitment, but there is no agreement in the legal sense," said the government's legal director, Herald Jonuzaj.
Asked by the court whether, if the filters do not work, we will block TikTok again, Rama's official said that security and measures would be evaluated in the future.
