A few days after the Constitutional Court ruled against the prime minister's decree calling elections in Tirana, one of the members of this court — which actually supported Edi Rama's decree — is expected to run for the position of Commissioner against Discrimination. This is Sonila Bejta, whose mandate, although declared to be over, did not prevent her from supporting the prime minister's decree with her vote, but also as rapporteur in one of the most sensational cases of the Constitutional Court in recent years.
Packaged by the opposition and Sali Berisha as a symbol of professionalism and protection of the opposition's interests, Ms. Bejtja this time seems to have spoiled the mood with her vote for the leader of the Democratic Party. But not enough to not be on the list of candidates for the Commissioner against Discrimination, which is expected to be voted on in the coming weeks in Parliament. Her name will likely be among the favorites for both Berisha — who has not hidden his support for her — and Rama, who supported his unconstitutional decree for the elections in Tirana.
Well, when it comes to interests, Rama and Berisha have never hidden their desire to cooperate. And this wouldn't be the first time... but probably not the last.
