The Chairman of the "Mundësia" Party, Agron Shehaj, requested a day ago from the members of the Democratic Party in the Mandates Council to publish SPAK's evidence against Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, even though such an action would violate the law and investigative secrecy.
The statement has prompted a strong reaction from the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, who today stressed that the opposition has no reason and no right to violate the law to expose evidence that is in the hands of the prosecution. According to Bardhi, every Albanian understands that there is sufficient evidence against Balluk for repeated criminal offenses, but this does not justify violating legal procedures.
" The interest in the law is the one that protects the public interest. You cannot claim to be on the side of justice while committing actions that violate it ," declared Bardhi, underlining that the five opposition members on the Mandates Council have acted in accordance with the law.
He directly accused Prime Minister Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku of attempting to influence and damage the SPAK investigations. According to Bardhi, Rama has illegally obtained evidence from the prosecution and is building a strategy to release it to the public, with the aim of sabotaging the investigative process.
" We are being called upon to break the law and violate investigative secrecy. This is a call in the interest of Balluk and Rama, to harm justice and to interfere with the continuation of the investigations. We have neither done it nor will we do it ," said Bardhi.
The clash between Shehaj and the DP leaders once again exposes the divisions within the opposition, at a time when the Balluku case and the SPAK investigations remain at the center of public and political attention.
