Today, the meeting of the Mandates Council called by 5 members of the Democratic Party to discuss SPAK's request to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity failed.
According to DP representatives, the blocking of the Council meeting is happening on the political orders of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, according to them, is holding the functioning of the Assembly hostage.
"The Assembly, on the political orders of Edi Rama, continues to hold hostage the meeting of the Mandates Council. Contrary to what is stipulated in the regulation, according to which the Council meeting can be called by five members, Niko Peleshi continues to keep the Assembly offices locked, protecting the corrupt Belinda Balluku", declared Gazment Bardhi.
Democrats emphasize that the delays and blocking of the meeting constitute a violation of the Assembly's regulations and are being used, according to them, as a political mechanism to obstruct investigations and procedures against senior government officials.
